Our Commitment
A Sister’s Hope 60K-Amsterdam is the first two-day, 60km walk in Holland dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. Our goals:
# Raise significant funds for breast cancer research being conducted in Holland’s top research and academic hospitals
# Increase awareness of breast cancer; knowledge of the disease saves lives
# Build a sense of community during the training and fundraising months, and during the event itself, that binds breast cancer survivors and those directly affected by breast cancer with others who have chosen to join in the fight against this disease
# Lay a foundation for future significant funding of breast cancer research and other projects needed in the breast cancer community
How much will the beneficiary receive?
The money raised for A Sister’s Hope 60K-Amsterdam will go to breast cancer research. Depending on how much is raised this first year, a portion of the proceeds could go to fund other small projects for which organizations in Holland have requested funding. We continually strive to keep expenses at a minimum so more funds go to the research projects.
In special event fundraising such as this, the key factors in determining what percentage of donated euros will go to the beneficiary are:
1. Number of participants who register to Walk
2. Amount of money raised by each participant
The more people who walk and the more money that each of them raises, the higher the percentage of return to the beneficiary. For example, there is a big difference when 200 walkers raise just the minimum 1,500 euros versus those same 200 walkers each raising 2,000 euros. While the costs of producing the event stay the same, the amount of money that goes to the beneficiary changes drastically.
The citizens of Holland have an opportunity to make this first year’s event an enormous success. If communities embrace their neighbors who have registered for the walk and either join them as a team member or simply make a donation in support of their efforts, breast cancer research in Holland will take a huge step forward in our journey to find a cure.

As a first-year event, we are not yet CBF-certified.
